Winamp is a comprehensive player that can easily handle all known audio and video files such as MP3, AVI, WAV, OGG and many more. To play music, the user can set one of many visualizations, which change depending on the music being played. The user can also create their own playlist, which they can then save to the hard drive and, if necessary, upload to the player again. The player also includes a graphic equalizer for sound editing. More demanding users can improve this player with a number of expanding plug-ins and graphic skins that will make Winamp completely unrecognizable.

In addition to the classic music and video playback, Winamp also offers the possibility of watching Internet TV, listening to Internet radio and, last but not least, ripping CDs into several different audio formats.
